Statistical Tools for Engineers

Often considered a difficult subject, statistics is the analysis of data. Taking a practical look at the application of statistics aids the understanding of variation and the source of variation in practical terms.

Course Description

This course is a combination of instructor led sessions and delegates exercises. The exercises are designed to provide key learning points and enables the delegates to experience using some of the tools.

The Learning Gain

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:-

bulletIdentify appropriate tools for the collection, collation and interpretation of data.
bulletIdentify efficient means of gathering meaningful data.
bulletIdentify sources of variation and their effects of function
bulletUnderstand how to apply statistical process control
bulletAppreciate the benefits of a planned statistical approach to experimentation (and the disadvantages of an ad hoc approach)
bulletAppreciate other statistical tools, such as;

Parameter Design
Weibull Analysis
Hazard Plots

That are used to improve product/process quality and reliability.
