Robustness Engineering

The Robustness Engineering suit of courses is made up from Experimental Design, Parameter Design and this one-day overview. Robustness Engineering has been successfully applied to design in a number of organisations but this course looks at the issues surrounding all processes, services and end products and how this principle can be applied.

A robust product or service is one that delivers the intended output under all the normal operating and usage conditions. This is just as true for a service as it is for a physical product.

 Course Description

Through a series of instructor lead sessions this one-day course looks at the linkages between all company operations and the delivery of the product or service that is required. The delegates have the opportunity to map out for their own business the steps that need to be taken, from data collection to delivery of the product or service, to ensure an acceptable and consistent end product.

The Learning Gain

bulletDemonstrate the impact and suitability of Experimental Design and Parameter Design.
bulletUnderstand the role of Tolerance Design
bulletApply Parameter Diagrams to their product, process or service outputs.
bulletIdentify the sources of variation that exist within their sphere of operation and concern.
bulletPlan the use of Robustness techniques for their product, process or service.
bulletProvide other departments or organisations a rational for change based on the new knowledge gained.

Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course but an understanding of basic quality tools would be a distinct advantage.
