Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

FMEA is a risk analysis tool that can be applied effectively at the design or process stages within any business. FMEA identifies potential failures before they occur and provides a structured approach to establishing  the necessary actions that reduce the risk of failure and the resulting consequences.

Course Description

Through a series of exercises, this course demonstrates each of the steps within the FMEA process. From establishing purpose/function, identifying failure modes and effects of failure, establishing causes of failure and controls that currently exist. The course also covers how actions are prioritised in accordance with potential criticality of the failures.

The Learning Gain

This two day course uses case studies to facilitate accelerated learning and discusses design, process and machinery FMEA's

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:-

bulletDemonstrate an understanding of the role of FMEA in the effective planning of product and process quality.
bulletShow how FMEA identifies opportunities for defect prevention leading to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
bulletUse tools such as Function Analysis, Effects Matrix and Fishbone diagrams to ensure focused and effective FMEA output.
bulletDistinguish between Design, Process and Machinery FMEA and when they should be used.
bulletPerform Design, Process or Machinery FMEA's as part of a team.
bulletOvercome the most common pitfalls encountered whilst applying the FMEA process back in the workplace.
