Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)

Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis identifies potential failures of a design before they occur. DFMEA then goes on to establish the potential effects of the failures, their cause, how often and when they might occur and their potential seriousness.

Course Description

This two day course uses case studies to facilitate accelerated learning of the DFMEA process. The course is a mixture of instructor led sessions followed by team activities where the process is applied to a case study.

The Learning Gain

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:-

bulletUse the Function Tree to describe function
bulletDescribe how Failure Mode and Effects Analysis identifies opportunities for defect prevention, which in turn leads to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
bulletUse techniques such as Brain Storming, Effects matrix and Fishbone diagrams to ensure focused and effective DFMEA output.
bulletIdentify the outputs of DFMEA and the linkages with Process FMEA

They will also have:-

bulletThe required knowledge to perform a DFMEA as part of a team.
bulletReceived the necessary learning to overcome some of the pitfalls, sometimes encountered, whilst performing a DFMEA.
