Design for Manufacture There are many pressures on the design and manufacturing functions of any business. One of the issues that need constant attention is the ability for the manufacturing process to deliver exactly what the design is intended to achieve. Design For Manufacture (DFM) looks at a win-win approach to this thorny problem, from understanding the nature of variation, their sources and how best to manage these to understanding and designing for the constraints of manufacture without losing the design integrity. Course Description This one-day course uses a number of instructor led sessions and delegate exercises to examine the issues surrounding DFM and explores the process that allows the design integrity to be maintained without compromising the manufacturing process or challenging manufacturability. Whilst there are a number of models that are used by different organisations, this course provides a framework that is flexible enough for any organisation to adopt. The course provides a structure that be applied to any business where the design of the product needs to be aligned to the manufacturing or processing of the final deliverable. The Learning Gain At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:-
Pre-Requisites Although there are no rigid pre-requisites, delegates will need to have an understanding of the operation of their business for them to be able to get the most from this course. |
