Customer Focused Engineering (CFE) is a planning tool for translating customer needs, wants and expectations into appropriate company measurables. CFE identifies customer driven significant items on which to focus time, product improvement efforts and other resources, leading to greater customer satisfaction and a faster time to market.

Course Description

The course is both practical and participative. Delegates will take part in a case study, which explores each phase of CFE and the links to other quality tools and methodologies.

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:-

bulletIdentify the role of CFE within their own company quality management system.
bulletApply the basic steps of the CFE methodology, identifying inputs to the CFE, how to obtain them, customer rankings, etc.
bulletExplain the five phases of the CFE process, which are:-
bulletPhase 0 - Pre-planning
bulletPhase 1 - Product planning
bulletPhase 2 - Design deployment
bulletPhase 3 - Process planning
bulletPhase 4 - Production planning
bulletDescribe how methodology is applied in each of the phases of CFE
bulletIdentify the inputs to the CFE process
bulletIdentify other quality tools and techniques that may be used within a CFE process
bulletIdentify how deployment between the phases of CFE is managed
bulletExplain the role of CFE in a customer driven company
bulletExplain the importance of an implementation strategy when applying CFE

Pre- Requisites

An appreciation of quality management systems would be a distinct advantage in understanding CFE but is not a mandatory requirement for this course.
